Congress Karnataka leadership row: In Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Amid questions rising again about Shivkumar’s leadership, on Saturday Shivkumar said that the Congress High Command has informed about calling both the leaders to Delhi. He said that when the High Command calls, both of them will go to Delhi and meet him.
Shivkumar told reporters, ‘I will inform you, I will not take any step without informing you. I will not go anywhere hiding from you. He gave this statement when asked about the possibility of going to Delhi after the Legislative Assembly session. When asked whether the High Command has invited him and the Chief Minister to visit Delhi, Shivkumar said, ‘The High Command has told both of us on phone when they will call. We both will go. They have said that they will call us at the appropriate time, we will wait for that call.
Siddaramaiah had made a big claim
A day before Shivakumar’s statement, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had said in the Assembly that he would continue in his post. He also said that the Congress high command is in his favor and it has not been decided that he will remain the Chief Minister only for two and a half years, as was rumored in the alleged power sharing agreement between him and Shivakumar in 2023. Shivakumar had said on Friday that with the participation of the high command, he and Siddaramaiah have reached an agreement and both will abide by it.
There is internal conflict among Congress
The power struggle in the state has intensified after the Congress government completed the middle phase of its five-year tenure on November 20. Rumors of change of Chief Minister intensified due to the power sharing agreement between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar in 2023. Meanwhile, on Saturday, some Naga sadhus reached the residence of Shivkumar and blessed him.
In an important development, Shivkumar on Saturday met former minister and senior MLA K. N. Met Rajanna in a private guest house, who is considered close to Siddaramaiah. Earlier, Shivakumar had met Siddaramaiah’s allies like ministers Satish Jarkiholi, G. God and K. J. Had also met George.
Rajanna’s meeting is important because he has clearly said that Siddaramaiah should remain the Chief Minister for the full five years because he was elected the leader of the party legislature party. He says that Shivkumar can become the Chief Minister by leading the party in the 2028 assembly elections. He also said that if Shivkumar becomes the Chief Minister, he will not be a minister in his cabinet.
Rajanna has also demanded a change in the post of state Congress president, which is currently held by Shivakumar, and the appointment of three more deputy chief ministers in the state. Rajanna, who was the cooperative minister, was dropped from the cabinet earlier this year on the instructions of the Congress high command. It is said that some of his statements, especially on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of vote theft, were the reasons behind this.
Said this about Delhi tour
Shivkumar said that he is going to Delhi on Tuesday and will meet many Union Ministers. He is also the Water Resources Minister and told that the Water Resources Department of the Central Government has called a meeting on the state projects Mahadayi, Krishna Pani Puraskar, Mekedatu and Upper Bhadra. He said that he will also meet the Union Water Resources Minister, Forest Minister and Urban Development Minister. We will discuss many issues. We wanted him to go with the state MPs, but I will go and if necessary, I will also meet the Prime Minister.
