In Bihar, on Thursday (20 November 2025), 27 leaders including Nitish Kumar took oath as ministers. Look at the new cabinet, in this every effort has been made to correct the social equation. In this, 14 ministers have been made from BJP quota, 8 from JDU, two from LJP (R), one each from HAM and RLM. The surprising thing in this cabinet of Nitish is that Jitan Ram Manjhi’s party won 5 seats and Upendra Kushwaha’s party won 4 seats and got one minister each from their quota, but Chirag’s party LJPR won 19 seats, yet only two ministerial posts came from their quota. After all, what assurance has Chirag Paswan received from BJP and JDU?
One MLA can become minister in cabinet expansion
There may be a total of 36 ministers in the Bihar government, but in the new cabinet of Nitish Kumar, only 27 ministers including the Chief Minister have taken oath and still nine posts are vacant, which means it is too early to say anything. It is possible that in the future, when Nitish’s cabinet is expanded, an MLA from Chirag’s quota may be made a minister in it. Chirag Paswan has described himself as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hanuman and has also proved that he has direct contacts with the BJP high command and during the seat distribution in Bihar, his party was given the maximum number of seats among the regional parties. In such a situation, he will definitely get importance in both Bihar and Delhi.
Promise of Rajya Sabha seat
It is also possible that Chirag Paswan has been promised by BJP-JDU that someone from their party will be sent to Rajya Sabha. Although it is too early to reach any conclusion on this, but the way Rashtriya Lok Morcha President Upendra Kushwaha has been offered not only a ministerial post but also a Rajya Sabha seat before the Bihar elections, it seems that Chirag Paswan has also got assurance of sending someone from the LJPR quota to the Upper House of Parliament. If this happens, then for the first time after the death of Ram Vilas Paswan, there will be a Rajya Sabha member from Chirag’s party.
Bihar Legislative Council seat
There are also speculations that someone from Chirag Paswan’s LJP (R) can be sent to Bihar Legislative Council (MLC). Upendra Kushwaha’s son Deepak Prakash also took oath as a minister in Nitish’s new cabinet. He had already been promised by BJP that an MLC would be made from their party. After Deepak’s oath, it has been decided that now he will be made MLC. Similarly, Jitan Ram Manjhi’s son Santosh Suman has also taken oath as a minister and is currently a member of the Bihar Legislative Council. In such a situation, there is every possibility that Chirag Paswan may also have got assurance for the MLC seat.
