Washing Machine: Washing machine has become an important household necessity in almost every household in India. Whether fully automatic or semi-automatic, these machines clean heavy clothes in minutes and make our daily tasks easier. But despite using it for a long time, many people ignore the basic things which directly affect the performance and life of the machine like proper installation, distance between the machine and the wall, water pressure and pipe fitting.
Where and how to keep the washing machine
Often people fit the washing machine wherever they find space, whereas this is the biggest mistake. According to experts, wrong placement can become the main reason for frequent malfunction of the machine. The machine should always be kept at least 4 to 6 inches away from the back wall. This gap handles the vibration of the machine and does not put extra pressure on the pipe, drainage hose and power cable.
If the machine is placed too close, the drum may hit the back surface during the spin cycle, which will increase noise and may lead to early wear of machine parts. At the same time, bent pipes prevent the flow of water, which increases the risk of leakage or motor damage. Therefore, proper distance also protects the machine from overheating.
If there is stability then the machine will run for years
The washing machine should always be kept on a flat and strong surface. If the floor is uneven, the machine will vibrate more and may hit the wall again and again. In such a situation, the machine can be kept stable by using anti-vibration pad or a strong stand.
Do not tie the inlet and drainage pipes too tightly. They require slight natural movement during the washing cycle. When installing a new machine, run it through an empty cycle once to ensure that it is not touching the wall.
take special care in winter
In cold weather, water in the pipes starts thickening, which puts more load on the motor. If the machine allows, run a warm-water cycle once a week. Apart from this, avoid overloading the machine because in winter it makes the machine work extra hard. After washing is complete, keep the machine dry and leave the door slightly ajar. This will prevent moisture from accumulating and will prevent foul smell.
A little care, long life
Correct placement of the machine and a little extra care in winter can extend its life by many years. By taking care of small things, you can not only keep the machine safe but also avoid expensive repairs.
